TANJA GRANDITS is the chef and owner of the Michelin star restaurant Stucki in Basel. Her work is all about passion and love for good food. She developed her unique style of cooking with colours, spices and a lot of joy. Her team and the friendly atmosphere in the restaurant are very important to her. She runs a shop with her own products, is a cookbook author and writes a weekly column. The most important thing in her life is her thirteen year old daughter.
NICOLAS THOMÄ is a senior scientist at the FMI in Basel. He is fascinated by how proteins work on the molecular level, and how they give rise to something as complex as the human body. Nico was trained at the University of Cambridge in Biochemistry and came to Basel in 2006, after postdoctoral work at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. His group at the FMI is interested in understanding how DNA is read-out and repaired. The lab focuses on the detailed workings of molecular machines, how they are deregulated in disease, and is passionate about turning these basic discoveries into novel therapeutics. When he is not thinking about molecules, he enjoys exploring the world with his family.
MARTIN VOSSELER is a co-founder of the organisation Physicians for Social Responsibility Switzerland, who has been a renewable energy advocate since 1981. After giving up his medical practice in 1995, he began working full-time to raise awareness of the benefits of renewable energy use, by organizing the congress sun21 and travelling around the world. From 16 October 2006 to 8 May 2007 Dr. Vosseler and his crew made history by completing the first transatlantic crossing in a motorized boat, using solar power only.
